This paper describes my research as I compared online discussion with face-to-face discussion in my fourth grade classroom. I found that online discussion offers many benefits including the ability to supplement responses with photos, links, and videos. It also gave quiet students a stronger voice and promoted full participation without time constraints. I created a reading section of my PBworks website to show how online discussion could be used. I continue to take an interest in the Flipped Classroom Model developed by Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams. Click the example page below to view the full site.
